A new survey by TD Ameritrade reveals that couples argue over money five times a year. Other findings:

- when it comes to choosing the perfect partner, personality (20%), character(18%) and looks (17%) topped the list. Money (5%) and potential earnings (3%) were less important.

- 40% of people don't trust their partner to manage their combined finances

- 21% of people sometimes hide their spending from their partner
