Mindy McCready's funeral was held yesterday in her hometown of Fort Myers, Florida. Mindy was laid to rest nine days after she died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at her home in Heber Springs, Arkansas. People magazine reports that 400 mourners attended the service that was held at Crossroads Baptist Church. Two police cars escorted the white hearse carrying Mindy's wooden casket to the service. McCready's mother, Gayle Inge, greeted the attendees with a handshake and they were presented with a program that included a color photo of Mindy. The late singer's casket was adorned with white roses and a large portrait of McCready stood on the stage. Mindy's songs were played as photos from her life were shown on two video screens set up on each side of the sanctuary. During the service, Inge told the mourners, "Mindy adored her two children. She wanted them to know that. Through much agony and pain, she went to heaven. She is no longer sick. She is healed. Thank you for all who are here. Please pray for those boys. No matter what, she will always be my little girl, sitting in her car seat, singing into a hairbrush. The world was her stage." A second memorial for the Mindy is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, March 6 at the Cathedral of The Incarnation in Nashville.

Rest In Peace Mindy
