So much to report when it comes to Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise‘s divorce saga.

First, Katie, 33, made her first post divorce filing appearance yesterday in New York City without her wedding ring. Katie was photographed this afternoon after she left a show taping. According to reports, the people on the set were not allowed to bring up Tom or the divorce.

News headlines definitely paint Katie as the sympathetic victim in the marriage with most reports stating she “escaped” from Tom.

Sources tell some publications Katie’s divorce filing was a long time coming as she has actually been attempting to break free from Tom, 49, and Scientology for the past year.

“Every move she made and everything she did was controlled. She felt like she was in Rosemary’s Baby,” reveals an insider, referencing the classic 1968 horror film, in which actress Mia Farrow unknowingly has a child for her husband’s Satanic cult.

“This is about protecting her daughter,” the insider continues. “She wants to be in charge of how Suri is being raised and didn’t want her to have an exclusively Scientology education.”  The first source adds: “She felt she had to get out tosave her daughter.”

“Frankly Katie escaped,” the source says, who reported Katie secretly got a NYC apartment in mid-June while preparing for the split. “She felt she had to get out to save her daughter.”

As for how Katie escaped, she had the help of her attorney father Martin Holmes who has been advising her. Sources also reveal she had stopped going to three-times-a-week Scientology classes more than 18 months ago; and distanced herself from Tom’s sister Lee Anne DeVette.

Also in recent weeks, she fired her team of  Scientologist employees “so she wouldn’t be spied on.”

Sources also say Katie feared Tom would ship their 6-year-old daughter Suri off to a hardcore Scientology organization known as Sea Organization which has been compared to a boot camp. The church is of course denying Tom was planning to send Suri there.
