Ice skating in Phoenix? That’s right, CityScape, where the heart of dining, nightlife and shopping come together hosts the NRG Ice Rink

If you haven’t had the opportunity to visit CityScape, downtown Phoenix’s newest venue for fun, it is an oasis of non-stop activity. From some of the best dining including the Arrogant Butcher and The Breakfast Club to the bowling lanes of Lucky Strike and the live comedy at Stand Up Live, CityScape is a welcome addition to the downtown area. Surrounded by light rail stops and within steps of US Airways Center, Chase Field, and the Phoenix Convention Center, it couldn’t be any easier to take advantage of all downtown Phoenix has to offer in one convenient location.

The cost of admission for skating is $12 per person which includes skate rental. Located in Patriots Square which is adjacent to a large holiday tree display, you’ll be treated to visits from Santa and a variety of holiday entertainment and live music.

Now a holiday tradition in the downtown area, the rink is named for NRG Energy Center Phoenix (formerly Northwind Phoenix) a subsidiary of NRG Thermal LLC, the district cooling company which operates the city’s downtown, underground cooling system. The holiday tree is dedicated to the people of Phoenix and sponsored by NRG and other business tenants of CityScape.

“CityScape is not only the geographic center of downtown Phoenix, but we intend for it to be the heartbeat of activity in downtown, as well,” states Mike Ebert, of RED Development, operator of CityScape. “It’s a place for the community to gather and we felt like an ice skating rink at the holidays is really a fun thing to share with people.”

So next time you find yourself at a sports game, trade show or business meeting in downtown Phoenix, stop by Cityscape. It’s the perfect spot for a spontaneous night out on the town.
