Centennial Elementary

Mrs. Rebecca Nieboer is the Self Contained Teacher for 4th Grade in Centennial Elementary (Higley Unified School District). She is currently in her 30th year of teaching and her experience primarily spans grades K-8. She has been a gifted specialist in the district for 4 years and has lead a self-contained gifted classroom for 3 years. This nomination is on behalf of a group of parents who believe having Mrs. Nieboer as our childrens' teacher has been outstanding. We would like to acknowledge her efforts in delivering a quality accelerated educational experience for her students. She consistently provides innovative ways to deliver the curriculum and expand on that with exciting experiential opportunities. The most recent example was having the class pair as buddies with students in the special education classes to plant gardens at the Centennial campus. With Mrs. Nieboer’s leadership, the students mapped out the landscape plan, paired with a buddy, prepared the garden, planted the flowers, and will follow the plant growth patterns. This – like many other events in her teaching plan for the year – provided a character-building opportunity in conjunction with the primary educational objectives. Mrs. Nieboer truly cares about each student and family. She sincerely finds joy in teaching, and that joy shines through each day. It has been a pleasure having her take our students through their fourth grade journey!
