Liberty High School
When I first walked into Natalieís (Mrs. Q-P's) room I was expecting to find a quiet environment that felt like a long term care facility for the mentally disabled. What I saw changed my life and warmed my heart forever. The teenagers she works with are severely disabled and nonverbal. Natalie is a bright and fun woman who never lets anything get her down. This attitude illuminates throughout this room daily. Natalie is the type of teacher who will come in at 6 AM and work until they kick her out of the building at 10PM. She works daily and nightly to find projects that can be modified so the students can participate. Not only does she spend her spare time finding and modifying activities, she also spends countless hours and her own money creating a huge lifetime event for these teens like Prom. She has also makes food/gift baskets for the families in our class who donít have as much for the holidays to make sure nobody goes without. This amazing woman would do ABSOLUTELY anything for these kids, even sign off key and dance silly, just to put a smile on their face and hear their precious laughter. She fights daily for these kids so that they are not left behind. She is an amazing advocate not only for their education, but their health and safety too. I can guarantee that every single day these kids are at school they know what it means to be loved. I have never in my life met a woman with a heart as big as Natalieís. Being able to work side by side has forever changed my outlook on life. This woman is a true hero and she deserves every award the world has to offer. There need to be more people in the world who are just like her. I sincerely hope you choose her for this award, Iíve never met someone so deserving and I know you would agree the moment you met her.
