St. Francis Xavier Elementary School

My name is Ryan Norrid. I am in 8th grade, and I attend St. Francis Xavier Elementary School. I would like to nominate Mr. Dan Long as "Teacher of the Week." Mr. Long came to St. Francis when I was in 6th grade. He teaches Religion/Leadership and Social Studies. He also takes the time out of his busy schedule to coach the Flag Football, Basketball and Baseball 6th, 7th and 8th grade school teams. Mr. Long believes that all his students can make a difference in this world. Mr. Long inspires his students to push harder to achieve their goals. During class time, he keeps his students on track with the lesson he is teaching, but he keeps it fun, interesting and enjoyable. I feel well respected while being taught in Mr. Long's class, as I believe each and every other student does as well. Mr. Long is a caring and loving teacher to all his students. He is a teacher you can go and talk to about anything and know you will get the best advice. He is always available for his students before and after school. As a student with a Learning Disability, Mr. Long has been one of my best advocates and has encouraged me and believed in me. It is because of him that I have pushed myself harder each and every day to complete my assignments and do the best I can. Mr. Long tells all his students to follow their dreams and to never stop believing in themselves. Mr. Long is a great role model to his students and is liked by everyone at our school. I personally believe that Mr. Dan Long deserves to win "Teacher of the Year"!!! Ryan Norrid
