As a new parent to preschool, it is a little nerve wrecking to drop off my 3-year-old son Joshua and leave him in the hands of Mrs. Deborah, especially since I have had a hard time myself disciplining Joshua and getting him to follow instructions. I wasn't sure if this sweet and kind teacher was going to be able to handle this hyper and unruly child. But ever since I have been dropping off Joshua with Mrs. Deborah, I have noticed a significant change in his behavior and ability to follow instructions. A few times she has pulled me aside after class to give me a few applicable ideas of what I can do at home to help with his behavior. She always uses words of encouragement, tells me how wonderful Joshua is (even when he has had time outs), and makes me feel like I am still a good mom. Joshua loves going to school so much that he sleeps with his backpack on at night if I tell him he has school the next day. He runs straight to his class and sometimes doesn't want to leave when I pick him up. PLEASE pick Mrs. Deborah to be teacher of the week! It would help show her how much we appreciate her. And, hopefully other preschool teachers will look to her for advice on how they too can love and teach.
