Centennial High School
Mrs. Dunham deserves to be recognized as the Teacher of the Week because of her incredible commitment to students. She teaches United States History at Centennial High School, but her work does not end when the last bell rings. Every spring, the College Board creates an Advanced Placement U.S. History test. This test is entirely optional, but allows students the opportunity to possibly earn college credit. The only problem is that the College Board examination requires knowledge of material not covered in the standard curriculum. But instead of just telling her students what they need to study, she actually takes her personal time to hold bi-weekly study sessions. During these sessions, Mrs. Dunham teaches the material needed to succeed on the College Board examination. Almost every single student that regularly attends these sessions receives college credit on the exam. These take place after school, during lunches, and even on weekends. This year, over fifty students attend in order to increase their knowledge and prepare for the exam. Despite this immense amount of time and effort put forth for the students, Mrs. Dunham receives no financial compensation for this. Luckily, she does not do it for money or for recognition. She does it for the students. She does it because she legitimately cares about the future of each and every student. I promise that you will not find a more worthy candidate of this honor. She is an inspiration to her students and fellow teachers alike, and she deserves to finally be rewarded for her commitment to education. Mrs. Dunham truly is a fantastic individual who sets an example that teachers across the nation should follow. If you have any questions feel free to contact me directly, as I would love to speak more about this incredible individual. Please do not allow her immense dedication to go without notable recognition.
