Perry said, "I saw that and I thought, 'This is really happening." In her room, she also found a letter from her family and a bracelet that her grandfather and given her grandmother when they started dating. Perry said, "I got to read the letter and get dressed and put on my grandfather's bracelet. I came back out on the front porch and he was standing there and he got down on one knee. It was perfect."

After they became engaged, Perry revealed that the couple first met backstage at the Florida Strawberry Festival in February of 2012. Arencibia first saw Kimberly in the video for "If I Die Young" and told the singer that he "had this moment where he felt like that was going to be a part of his future." Kimberly says of J.P., "I've never felt that with anyone before. He's just a really gentle soul. He balances me for sure." The couple plans on getting married next summer.
